Hello Leslie ,
It is not so inusual to get this kind of weather in summer in our régions . As you say , you 've to keepe an eye open for storms , but on the other hand , that provides beautiful light and skies , and great opportunities for the photographer .
Like in this superb composition where the splendid sky is an important feature .

Hi Les,
I love the clouds and patch light on the landscape. Thank god for stormy skies.
A simple but effective composition of this distinctive Dartmoor scene.

Hi Leslie,
Bad weather but beautiful moments to photograph ! The sky is very nice and you composed very well your picture with the lonely tree at a strong point in the composition.

Oh, don't say that, Leslie, summer must come back because I will be going on holiday next week! A couple of days in Cornwall before crossing the Channel to Brittany!
This is a very atmospheric scene.
The leaning trees speak of uninterrupted winds whilst the tors look shadowy and wild ... if still beautiful!
The sky, with its layers of clouds, adds so much to the overall mood.
This is a wonderful place for photography!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Les
Love this. The "dangerous" sky and the consequently darkened foreground form a partial frame for the sunlit middle section. The tor and the trees are perfectly placed. BTW, it would be crap without the trees!

Hello Les,
I like this composition very much with its beautiful light and colours and wonderful depth. Perfectly framed with the two trees nicely placed off centre seemingly mimicking the distant tors.

Hello Leslie,
My first reaction was that the photo is heavily tilted :-). Of course it isn't, but the trees are. They have weathered many storms, all from the same direction, throughout the years. In windy places like this dark clouds can assemble very quickly. But before the rain starts the clouds look great in photos. The light is still superb.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Les, thanks for that storms because it gives beautiful and dramatic skies and you have captured it very well on this landscape photo. I like the tree in the light, positioned on the left and bended to the right. Very good composition.

Hello Les
yes it always pays to keep an eye on the weather in the UK and especially here in this glorious wilderness. But when it creates a sky over a landscape like this it is all so worthwhile. Awesome!

Hi Leslie,
Such weather conditions doesn't occur often, where the light is illuminating a specific area of interest in the composition, while darkening the surrounding. Even better, the dark row of cloud in the foreground brings so much character to the scene, while "closing" the upper part of your frame.
This shot confirm that photography is all about capturing light... Very dramatic result.
Well done!

Hello Les - Now this shot sums up the vagaries of the English weather very well. One gets the feel of the fleeting nature of warm sunny days very well. Beautiful landscape work with a simplicity and realism that I like very much.

Hi Leslie,
sadly it seems the summer is already gone in the UK. But it is just here...
Beautiful landscape. Such simple features and yet perfectly composed and captured at extraordinary light conditions. The trees and the hills are very nicely positioned in the frame. There are so many attractive horizontal lines which make the geometry very eye catching.
Excellent work!

Hi Leslie!
At least, it seems a good opportunity for a few shots. Once again you got a fabulous sky and light. The sky is really wonderful, almost in layers, and the landscape is very beautiful!

Hello Leslie, this reminds me that we ought to get out onto Dartmoor more than we do!
A lovely picture with an excellent depth of field.
The light and colours are so typical of the area.
I like the title, it still applies today!!Is summer returning?
