Photographer's Note

A good local pub is the heart of the country.

Peter Tavy is a small farming village on the western flanks of Darmoor National Park. It is named after the River Tavy, not far away on the main road to Tavistock is Mary Tavy.

This picture shows the truly excellent Peter Tavy Inn, the 15th century village pub which is renowned for its good food and well-kept real ales.

In the background is St Peter's Parish Church, which is largely built of granite and has a buttressed west tower.
