Photographer's Note
This picture was taken on the same day as my previous post and shows a couple admiring the dam wall up close. The lake shown in my previous post is the one being held back by this structure. I saw the couple making there way down to the fence and began moving back into position to take the picture.
Afterwards the man apologised for being in my shot not knowing that I took the picture because he was in the shot. Its interesting how people included in pictures can be completely unaware that they are an important part of the composition, especially when there is an obvious point of interest in front of or behind them. I just replied that it was no problem :)

the scale of this wall is immediately felt thanks to those two figures. Wonderful. At first I even thought it was some kind of a historic wall, like Chinese Great Wall or something like that. Not just an ordinary dam wall.:))
Very impressive. And I like its color, its somewhat special - maybe it's just the light but there's some golden tinge on the bricks.

honestly, i think you needed the people in this shot, without them there is no size perspective and alot of the visual interest would be lost.
so its a good thing they were oblivious! :)
good too, that he's wearing a red jacket!
And its smart that you left 5% for down along the bottom, to highlight the tall height.

Hello James,
A huge wall . Can't imagine the size wwithout the couple on the left. I like the colors, depth and quality. The green grass makes a nice color contrast against the brown wall.

Well, it is so good to see you posting again.
This shot certainly needed the figures as a point of reference and to give an impression of scale. You can imagine the change that they created by their presence.
Your exposure is perfectly sharp.

Dam walls are curiously fascinating ! I have been to many, Derbyshire and Mid wales, I find myself drawn irresistably. Show me a map, and I seek 'em out !
This is neat, the red of course being the crucial element. As you say, if only people knew !
This is a great testament to those men who built them, beautiful work, theirs, and yours ..
( Is the sharpness a tad underdone possibly )

The couple really are the key element to the success of this shot. Choosing to position them close to the bottom corner of the frame has emphasised the size of the dam wall. A very good example of how a minimalistic composition can be very effective.

Good idea and excellent realisation. Fine conceptual composition. The Wall is main part of philosophy. We also can remind Pink Floyd and J.P. Sartre.
Unfortunatelly, a sharpness is not the best.
