Photographer's Note

“Inn” is quite an extraordinary English word. My first instinct every time I see it, is that it may be a spelling mistake. Google Translate defines inn as “an establishment providing accommodations, food, and drink, especially for travellers”. The inn which you see in this photo is not an ordinary inn. It is located in Wasdale Head which is a very remote spot in the Western Lake District. It is a base, trailhead for the trail to the highest mountain of England, Scafell Pike (978 m). I suppose that is why they advertise it as “the birthplace of the British climbing”.
We spend a glorious day in Lake District. The weather was amazing, but it is already back to normal. I am quite happy about it because the grass in my garden started to dry out again. A couple of days of rain are so very much needed as long as it does not last the whole summer.
