Photographer's Note

Through the window, a view across some of the gardens towards the barbican gate at Lanhydrock House.

Now owned and managed by the National Trust, (since 1953), the house, not in the picture, is a Grade 1 listed building.

Lanhydrock estate belonged to the Augustinian priory of St Petroc at Bodmin, but with the Dissolution of the Monasteries during the 1530s it passed into private hands.

In 1620 wealthy merchant Sir Richard Robartes of Truro, acquired the estate and began building Lanhydrock House.
There is much more history to this place, but I didn't want to bore you!

The estate is extensive, with woodland and gardens.

Two more pictures in the w/s.

Thanks for looking.
