Photographer's Note
Redesmere is one of the many Meres of Cheshire of substantial size and is closest to Macclesfield. As a consequence it is much visited by families at weekends. Its waters are fished from the bank for carp and sailed by racing dinghies. No motor-boats are allowed, except the sailing club's rescue boat. Unlike the 'pond' in the film :o)
Over the years a resident population of Mallard, latterly also Canada Geese and a few Swans have entertained the families by condescending to squabble over the crumbs of bread the visitors bring for that especial purpose. Migrating birds, especially water based ones use the Cheshire Meres as small rest-areas or staging posts. A variety of ducks and waders drop in from time to time.
Not many people or birds about on this frosty afternoon, but a couple of swans went about their business with the usual dignity.
Cropped top and bottom, some adjustment of levels, resize and sharpen in PSE3.

Wow.. the shades of colours and light you managed to capture here are really great. And the swan in the middle of the lake gives the image a romantic flair. Very well done!

This is a wonderful shot Peter, the golden sky and water are excellent. The lone swan of course makes the whole scene complete.
