After the note by Marek (mapek61) I need to give some clarification about this boy: the device he is carrying is probably the tryzub (trident) which is the national symbol and also coat of arms of Ukraine... so he seems to be a young Ukrainian patriot...

Maybe he's clearing the way for the women behind him.? Great shot and he does look quite proud. I remember getting something new and marching around with it on display when I was young. Good shot of daily life.
