Photographer's Note
Despite all the obvious beauty, flying in the Alps is a serious matter. Weather can change pretty fast and you do not want to be caught up here between all the rocks. So you are smart studying the weather carefully before going. You can have lovely weather in the Northern part of Switzerland, changing when flying south to the Ticino area (the Alps form a metrological divide).
We always carry oxygen with us when going flying in the Alps. We have noticed that we remain much "fresher" when landing back in the Zurich area. Years before, when we did not do this, we came home with minor headaches, ready to sleep. Since my pilot in command should rather stay clear, this is the only solution for us to go with oxygen when flying in an altitude towards 10'000 ft. Private pilots have no rule on this, but you are up there ... it is our decision.
This is again towards Oberalp Pass.
