Photographer's Note
Kapellbrücke ("Chapel Bridge" in German) is a 204 m long bridge crossing the Reuss River in the city of Luzern in Switzerland. It is the oldest wooden bridge in Europe, and one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.
The covered bridge, constructed in 1333, was designed to help protect the city of Luzern from attacks. Inside the bridge are a series of paintings from the 17th century depicting events from Luzern's history. Much of the bridge, and the majority of these paintings, were destroyed in a 1993 fire, though it was quickly rebuilt.
Adjoining the bridge is Wasserturm (Water Tower), an octagonal tower made from brick, which has served as a prison, torture chamber, watchtower and treasury. Today the tower, which is part of the city wall, is used as the guild hall of the artillery association.
On the other bank of the river we can see the Jesuits' church of 17C.

Hallo Alexander,

Hello Alexander,
Black and white has given a timeless quality to this interesting composition. Very good angle of view; I like how the bridge tower is nicely balanced by the lamp post. Good tones and clarity.

Hej Alexander,
that sepia conversion makes this nice scene ancient, which works well with the wooden bridge. Fine additions by the POV with the water tower and church, good contrasts and sharpness and the lantern at the right is a good inclusion.

Hi Alexander
I really like your pp giving it an old feel. You would never know it's not the original bridge before it was burnt down. Your pov accentuating the curve of the bridge and the line of boats adds depth. The church is very attractive in the middle.

Hi Alexander, A great sepia shot of the wonderful Chapel Bridge, one I have visited myself, the sharp focus & excellent detail are very good indeed, I like your POV as most of the shot I have seen here are taken from the other side, the overall composition is superb with the little line of boats & the lamp in a great position, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Alexander,
well choice to show this famous bridge in sepia. I was there in summer and I made photos in colour, full of life and also tourists. But here thank´s to your conversion to sepia it looks like a photo from 50´s and I feel little nostalgy looking to this.
Best regards,

A nice Sepia treatment for a well composed image. The pier gives good perspective and, along with the lampost on the right, frames the shot well. Very nicely done.

Alexander,
the composition with the bridge and the tower in the middle is perfect. The sepia gives a mood that reminds me that the bridge burned recently and what you took here is an almost perfect reconstruction of what it has been in the past.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Sasha, you were there in the middle of May, while I was there, In Luzern, in June, June 4th, 2007 to be exact! I noticed that you write wonderfully informative notes, I read many of them with pleasure and interest. Especially I liked the one about your sleeping ON lac Leman and seeing THAT kind of sky. :) Good idea for the ecomony budget!
On this photo you have a very good point of view. I got to Luzern around 6 p.m. and it was already getting darker, as a result my photos turned out to be rather dark and blurry, so I liked your idea of sepia here, maybe it would help my photos, I have to try.
Good luck and Happy New Year! S nastupayuschim "starim" novim godom! Kak tebe nravitsya v Gollandii? Ti zhivesh' v Amsterdame? U menya tam 2 brata! Ira.
