Photographer's Note
This is a second photo from Lake Maelaren. Since it might be difficult to believe that the ice in my previous picture was thick enough for skating (the thickness was actually around 10 cm) I would like this time post a picture taken earlier the same with some skaters on the ice. Lake Maelaren is the third largest lake in Sweden. Major cities of Sweden are situated on the Lake or close to the lake. The eastermost bay of Maelaren is Riddarfjaerden in central Stockholm. Other cities around the lake are Vaesteraas, Eskilstuna, Soedertaelje and Uppsala.

Fantastic ice....although our temps will be -35C here in a couple of days, all of our lakes are covered with a metre of snow, so skating like this is impossible.

Hi Ulf,
This picture makes me jealous!
Last weekend we had some ice, thick enough for skating on our canals and lakes and almost every real Dutch(wo)men had taken the skates from the attic (for it was 12 years ago the winter was cold enough). But today I had to go again the 400m. skating rink 5 minutes walking from my house for it was grey drizzly and thawing weather and no change for skating on natural ice for the next week(s)

I thought I was quite alone on this site to enjoying this fantastic event of skating on big lakes..
so Im Happy.
You really gives the impression of the big wide landscape in your version of this sport and the never endingsky.
