There's a lot of mansions all around those lakes in sormland and by the ice they are much more accessible than during other time of the year, this one is called Ekehov
Tour skating on ice (in Swedish "långfärdsskridskoåkning") is now a popular sport in Sweden. Maybe the best conditions in the world are those found around Stockholm with a considerable number of both large and small lakes plus the extensive nearby archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The smallest lakes may freeze normally in November, although the main season usually starts in December and lasts until March or April. Snow is not a major problem in this part of Sweden because in cold periods there are often areas of unfrozen water that can still freeze, and in mild periods the snow melts down to slush in the daytime and freezes to ice during the night.
The Baltic around Stockholm does not freeze every year, but when it does skating there is a very special experience. The lakes also offer outstanding conditions for great tours. On the large Lake Mälaren it is very popular to skate between the many towns situated along the shores and experienced skaters may skate 100 kilometers or more in a day. Most medium-sized and small lakes are located in very beautiful forest landscapes, giving skating there a special character.

This excellent series depicting the pleasures of distance skating seems to be shot in different locations and makes me believe you were skating too...
How come to dare bring expensive photo equipment as it necessarily has to be many falls, in particular in the beginning of the season??!
Here I also notice the nice property on the shore...

Another interesting shot of skaters on a perfect mirror plane. I've never experienced such myself, there's just the right amount of water above the ice. Nice buildings at the background. Skaters don't show so well here as they appear to be on a shadow.

The "mystique" is heavy in this picture. The light and the reflections are very good. What time of the day was this taken? What was the air temperature when you took this photo? I really like all this picture with långfärdsskridskoåkning! I wish I had the opportunity.

Again this fantastic ice, but I guess the focus here is on one of these great looking Sörmland mansions. Well captured colours in the sparse late afternoon light (or is it early morning?).

How did you shoot and where to shoot from, without causing ripples to the water? Looks like the bank on other side is not where you shot from?
