Photographer's Note
CUENCA was a must-stop on our recent tour of Spain. The city, famous for its hanging houses, has some terrific art museums and our favourite hotel (the Posada de San José) which we were very happy to find virtually unchanged from when we stayed there in 1995, on what was the first trip me and my wife (then girlfriend) made together. Staying there again, this time with our 18 yr old daughter with us, made it a bit of a sentimental journey. Getting old...

THIS PICTURE shows a colourful row of houses on the city square in the above part of town. The square was pretty much the same as we remembered, except for more car traffic (unfortunately).

I love the colours in your photo, such a great collection with a bit of indigo sky adding to the composition.

I read your notes with interest.
Holiday destinations and favourite haunts have that effect on us, rekindling memories and giving us some stability in a rapidly changing world!
This row of houses was demanding to be photographed with its eclectic mix of colours and window designs. It's nicely angled in your composition, with lower street details cropped, to avoid distractions.

Ik herinner me deze kleurrijke huizen in Cuenca. Het stadje heeft bovendien nog enkele heel spectaculaire zichten.
Jullie hebben een reis langs enkele bijzonder mooie plaatsen in Spanje gemaakt.
Is een posada zoiets als een parador? Ik ken de naam pousada enkel van in Portugal waar ze de locale versie zijn van de Spaanse paradors. Reeds vaak heb ik eens in een parador of een pousada willen logeren maar het reisbudget deed me telkens een andere overnachtingsplaats kiezen.
