Photographer's Note
Aroche, has remained to some extent hidden and unknown, perhaps overshadowed by other more famous mountain landmarks.
Built by the Almoravids in the ninth century at 438 meters high, it was Arab until in 1263 Sancho II of Portugal conquered it and was completely rebuilt in 1293 by Sancho IV going to the crown of Castile. It had great importance as a border defense belonging to the so-called Leonese Galician band.
A first belt of defense constituted the castles of Aroche, Encinasola and Fregenal, and already, in a second belt, were those of Cortegana, Torres and Cumbres. Greater.
Upon arriving in Aroche we realize that it is not the typical town of “very few thousand inhabitants” (just over 3000 Ha) of the mountain area. We are surprised by the relative hustle, more typical of larger cities or towns. The streets are full of activity, and not only due to the increasingly considerable tourism sector, but to the native population, which fills the streets and squares of Aroche daily with life.
Like many mountain villages, the structure of the town is formed by a series of narrow streets, which invite you to leave the car parked as soon as possible and walk its streets on foot. Streets, which although they are some "very steep", do not cost excessive work to travel.
Already just walking through the streets you realize the beauty of Aroche, since there are numerous buildings and stately homes of great size and that reflect an ancient splendor. This wealth is evidenced in the great cultural and heritage legacy that is probably the main attraction of the town, differing from other borders that presume perhaps more than a Natural and leisure heritage. Although, as we will see later, Aroche is not far behind in having a Spectacular Nature.
The Church of the Assumption. The origin of this temple dates from 1483 and was ordered to be built by the Catholic Monarchs. The church is composed of elements belonging to different architectural styles from the Mudéjar to the Renaissance and is still unfinished. An impressive Church with a wealth that surprises those who visit it.
A few meters from the Church of the Assumption and up some typical cobbled streets we can access the Castle. The Castle of Arab origin dates from the twelfth century and was built for the defense of the entire Ribera del Chanza valley.
From the reconquest, this castle becomes especially important due to the disputes between the crown of Castile and Portugal for all the territories of the northern part of the Province of Huelva. Once the conflict ended in the seventeenth century, the castle was disused and virtually abandoned. This abandonment lasted until the town hall of Aroche decided to install the town's Plaza de Toros in the parade ground. This fact, perhaps now seen as something unusual, has allowed the conservation of the Castle of Aroche as an asset, which doubtfully would have remained standing had the transformation not been carried out.
------------------------------------------------------

Hello Luis,
A lovely view of the town in a very pleasant sunlight. You handled the exposure of the white walls very well and I like their combination with the brick walls a lot too. Also the white clouds in the blue sky are a nice bonus.

Hello Luis,
Maybe because it was so early in the season that the chairs and tables were not yet placed all over the square. Thanks to this we get a better view of the very nice buildings on the side. They are all remarkably attractive and the fine light and good exposure makes them look even better. The only car, that could have spoiled the picture, is nicely hidden in the shade! Nicely done.
Best regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
I took a virtual tour on Google-Map around town, but did not find the specific point where taken this picture.
However, a nice "stroll" I had through this rural small town, some 105km nw to Sevilla.
Picture here shows the typical white painted houses with red-stones under bright daylight.
Buenas dias,
Ike

Hello Luis,
A pretty smaller town with a very picturesque square.
Beautiful combination of white painted and red brick walls.
Apparently it was too early (or already too late) to have a drink on the terrace.
Very good sharpness. Attractive composition with the large cloud between both towers.
Best regards, Paul

Hola Luis,
This is such a pretty, almost hidden corner!
The alfresco cafe fits neatly and safely into a bounded, pristine courtyard
It feels sad that there is so much beauty on offer and yet, not a person in sight! I would willingly take a seat!
Your photograph is, as always well composed, the clock tower placed right on the thirds line and almost commanding us to explore the f/g!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hola Luis,
what a charming square here with quite extraordinary architecture. The weather was splendid and the abundance of light makes it feel like summer.
Interesting combination of white walls with some brown brick elements.
Very elegant final effect. The cloud seems to be posing for you in the optimal place on the perfectly polarized sky.
Excellent work,
M

Hi Luis
A nicely balanced capture highlighting the well preserved old buildings, and contrast between blue and white is another attractive element. Appreciate your narratives which make the shot more interesting. Excellent.
