Photographer's Note

Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer this composition with the walk along the river and the modern bridge of the beautiful town of Plentzia, I hope you like, then some letters about the town.

Plencia, formerly called Placencia, (in Euskera and officially Plentzia) is a municipality in the province of Vizcaya (Basque Country, Spain). It is located about 25 kilometers north of Bilbao, on the coast, in the northwest of the province. The town of Plencia is located on the right bank of the last meander of its estuary, just before its mouth in the bay of Plencia, which also overlooks the neighboring towns of Górliz and Barrica. With an extension of 6.30 km², Plencia has a population of 4387 people according to the census of the year 2017 and in summer it is usually multiplied by four due to the influx of vacationers.

The port of Plencia obtained the rank of village in 1239 by concession of Lope Díaz II Señor de Vizcaya, being confirmed by his grandson Diego López V de Haro in 1299, he was granted the terms to hunt whales from Portugalete to Baquio.

The original name of the new town was Placencia de Butrón but with the passage of time the use would shorten it giving rise to the current one of "Plencia". The plencianos were governed by the law of Logroño. Subsequent lords of Vizcaya and kings of Castile would confirm the fueros of the town.
