-----------------------------------------------------
********************
As the old palace of Aranjuez, of the masters of Santiago, did not have capacity, Felipe II ordered the construction of a new palace, located to the south and immediately to the old one, from which a narrow street separated it. The royal family would stay in the new palace; servitude, in the old.
Juan de Herrera carried out the work in its beginnings, it began with a public chapel in 1561, in 1568 the architect died and Juan de Herrera was in charge of continuing the works, the work was finished in 1586.
Before entering the Royal Palace, we find the Plaza de Armas, the scene of parades, commemorations and equestrian games typical of the court of absolutism.
Felipe III, after the death of Felipe II, did not introduce many improvements in the palace, he only built two passageways on the upper floors to connect the Palace with the former of the masters. He also completed the Garden of Statues, closed it with Herrera walls and placed a fountain in its center. Felipe IV decorated the Garden of Statues with statues.
Felipe V was in charge of the expansion of the palace in 1717, in 1727 the old palace of the masters began to be demolished, and the immediate mills, a bridge with a staircase was built to pass to the Island. In 1735 the ashlar wall was built the estuary to form the large square on the main facade of the Palace. The works ended in 1739, as Ferdinand VI was already king, it burned down in 1748 and ordered its restoration to Santiago Bonavía, who also made the main facade. The façade is crowned by three stone statues: Felipe II, Felipe V and Fernando V, under whose reign these works were completed. Also on the façade we can find two headstones: PHILIPUS II INSTITUIT. PHILIPUS V PROVEXIT and in the second: FERDINANDUS VI PIUS FELIX CONSUMAVIT. ANNO MDCCLII.
Carlos III arranged in 1771 to add two long wings attached to the main facade. At the ends, a raised gallery with a terrace and stone baluster, made by the engineer Francisco Sabatini. In the center of each wing is an inscription: CAROLUS III ADJEIT ANNO MDCCLXXV. He also ordered the Palace stop, with ten stone benches whose backs topped baskets of flowers and some pineapples. Each addition was made in harmony with what was previously built, so that the whole is completely coherent and seems to have been built at the same time. The palace took about 200 years to build between the old part built by Herrera and the last wings built by Sabatini.
--------------------------------------------------

Hello Luis,
Fantastic photo of this palace, captured in a beautiful and clear sunlight. The warm colours make an amazing contrast with the blue sky and the overhanging leaves are very well included also to add contrast and depth.

Hello Luis,
It's a magnificent palace and we are shown a large part of it in this well taken photo from some distance. I think you took the photo from the shade under a tree, and you used one of its branches nicely to cover part of the sky. The branch occupies an area of the photo roughly similar in size to the ground in front of the palace, making the composition very well balanced.
Best regards,
Gert

Hola Luis,
taken from a fair distance and managed to include most of the long facade.
A well lit, clear photo, the arcade made it most unusual sight.
Buenas dias,

Hello Luis, beautiful view of the pace in Aranjuez. When I visited Madrid many years ago, it was a must for me to go there, because of the Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo. Excellent composition with the trees framing from above. Great colours on a sunny day.
Best regards MAlgo

Hola Luis,
The succeeding Felips seem to have slowly worked on and improved the palace in their turn.
It does look to be a very large, impressive building with excellent details of repeating windows and arches, picked out in terracotta and white. (I always wonder why anyone would need such a huge building but, it was obviously to impress!)
I like how you have given it a natural frame and a fine sense of depth, by using the f/g leaves so well.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Luis,
A place in Spain and a palace I've never visited.
But often seen beautiful photos of it.
Beautiful colour contrast between the red facades & tower and the deep blue autumn sky. You framed the picture very well with the dark leaves on top.
An ideal place to enjoy the Concierto de Aranjuez.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Luis
A fine piece of architecture, very regal with delicious colours and sublime warm light. There's wonderful detail all round to savour and as always a top description for us to enjoy. Love the decision to include those shadow and little leaves on top, they give a sense of depth. I think you did you best here and your shot does justice to its grandeur. Congrats
Best regards

Ola Luis
