Photographer's Note
La Universidad Laboral de Gijón se encuentra situada en Gijón (Asturias, España), concretamente en la parroquia de Cabueñes, a poco más de tres kilómetros del centro urbano. Construida entre 1946 y 1956, es la obra arquitectónica más importante realizada en en el siglo XX en Asturias y es considerada, con sus 270.000 m², el edificio más grande de España.
En la actualidad, tras ser remodelada entre los años 2005 y 2007, alberga diversas instituciones, como el I.E.S. Universidad Laboral, la sede de la Radiotelevisión del Principado de Asturias, el Hospital de Cabueñes, un tanatorio, el Parque Científico Tecnológico de Gijón, el campus de Gijón de la Universidad de Oviedo, la Biblioteca de la Ciudad de la Cultura, un Centro Superior de Artes Escénicas, el espacio cultural Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura o la sede de la multinacional ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
La Iglesia es sin duda el edificio más espectacular del conjunto arquitectónico de la Universidad Laboral. Con una superficie de 807 m², es la Iglesia de planta elíptica más grande del mundo.
El interior se halla cubierto por una cúpula con un peso estimado de dos mil trescientas toneladas y montada sobre veinte pares de nervaduras de ladrillos cruzadas entre sí que sostienen la estructura sin necesidad de columnas. La altura desde el suelo hasta el arranque de los arcos de la cúpula es de veinticinco metros y de treinta y tres hasta el centro del óculo.
El suelo del templo es de mármol en su totalidad y los bancos, son de embero, un tipo de madera de Guinea Ecuatorial.
Las columnas del baldaquino, de granito rosa de Porriño, también son de una sola pieza, con una altura cada una de 7,75m.

The University Labor Gijon is located in Gijon (Asturias, Spain), specifically in the parish of Cabueñes, a little over three kilometres from the city centre. The church building is undoubtedly the most spectacular architectural ensemble of the University Education. With an area of 807 m², is the Church of plant elliptical world's largest.
The interior is covered by a dome with an estimated two thousand three hundred twenty tons and mounted on pairs of veins cross-brick structure that sustains itself without the need for columns. The height from the ground up starting the arches of the dome is twenty-five meters and thirty-three to the center of the eye.
The floor of the temple is marble in its entirety and the banks are Embera, a type of wood from Equatorial Guinea.
The columns of the canopy, Porriño of pink granite, are also in one piece, each with a height of 7.75m.

This is quite an interesting building. Good job to capture it in its entirety. The elevated angle looks quite nice and a bit out of the ordinary. I really like that all of the steps leading up to the building have been included in the picture as well. It just rounds it up quite nicely.
The composition has been well chosen too. I like that there is a bit more space to the left of the building than to its right. It creates an image that appears nicer to look at. The colors of the sky are magnificent as well.

Estuve alli hace una semana viendo a unos amigos que están estudiando en la universidad y el edificio es simplemente sobrecogedor.
La foto pues como siempre es una maravilla, pero bueno por un día le voy a poner un pero jaja, que ha pesar de verse en la imagen que el edificio es grande no refleja relamente la realidad ya que es bastante mas grande a mi parecer de lo que vemos en la imagen.
