Transylvanian Alps
Although not as high as the Alps, the Carpathian Mountains extend over 600 miles in Romania, in the shape of an arch. They are divided into three major ranges: the Eastern (Oriental) Carpathians, the Southern Carpathians (also known as the Transylvanian Alps), and the Western Carpathians. Each of these ranges feature a variety of landscapes, due to the different types of terrain (glacial, karstic, structural, and volcanic).
Romania's mountains are a great destination for numerous outdoor activities including: climbing, hiking, biking and river-rafting.
Făgăraș Mountains are the highest mountains of the Southern Carpathians, in Romania. The highest peaks are: Moldoveanu 2,544 m. They are bordered in the north by the Făgăraș Depression, through which the Olt river flows, and in the west by the Olt Valley (Valea Oltului).
A road called the Transfăgărășan runs across the Făgăraș Mountains. It is generally open only between June and September, due to unfavorable weather conditions in the rest of the year.
You can find many glacier lakes in the Făgăraș Mountains.
The Făgăraș Mountains are a very popular hiking, trekking and skiing destination in Romania. In the vicinity of the Negoiu, and in the central part of the band take the rocky nature of the mountains, and reaching the main ridge trail there are technical difficulties and exposure. Somewhat difficult part of the trail is a "Three steps from the death" running the main ridge by ridge Custura Arpaşului the lake (in Romanian Lacul) Capra (2230 m). Also a bit challenging is one of the ways to Negoiu - Strunga Dracului. The most difficult section of the ridge Custura Sărăţii between Șerbota (2331 m above sea level) and Şaua Cleopatrei pass (2355 m). At the root of the fire is under Șerbota several meters of steel cable handrail, on the other part there are no artificial enhancements.

Hello Piotr,
A great view of those majestic mountains, nicely layered and even more so in the hazy clouds. The light was special too and the contrast with the golden fields in the foreground is also appealing. Well done.

The distance between the valley and the mountains is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountains. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

If that photo was from where I live I'd say that there was smoke from a fire, but no just a good hazy mountain photo.

There is a great contrast from the golden field in the foreground, to the mist prevailing the mountains on the far side, Piotr.
Still, we can enjoy the sight with good depth and fair clarity.

Fagaras was one of my favourite mountains in Romania. It is truly magical in the winter and early Spring months with a heavy coating of snow and ice. Good sharpness and I like the tonal nuances. Tfs!

Piotr, the excellent viewpoint offers a deep visual field. Golden fields are growing in the valley in the fg. The Transylvanian Alps lower slopes are covered by forests whereas the summits are bare and entirely mineral. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.

Even though the scenery is beautiful it's mainly the hazy light and subdued colours that make this such an attractive photo. The combination of dense clouds and strong light has an amazing effect.
