Photographer's Note
Fountains and wells are still common in the rural areas of Romania. They are used as a source of water and thought to be an important part of the soul`s journey in the after-life. For every person who dies, his/her living relatives has to contribute to the making or repairing of one well and then add a cross in the vicinity to remember the dead. The common belief is that the dead will share from the water with the living who drink from that well.

Hi Oana.An interesting shot as it reminds us how once we were able to drink clean, healthy water from wells. most are now demolished or sealed as the underground water has been contaminated. I found your note fascinating with the mixture of faith, superstition and a desire to remember the departed. It is therefore most suitable to show us the well deep in shadow- for even memory fades away in time. regards. Klaudio.
