Photographer's Note

This is another view of Coimbra, something like a zoom of the upper right corner of my last post. It was shot in the balcony of the top floor of the older building of the university (which appears in front of the tower on that other post).

The smaller church on the foreground is S. João de Almedina. The other is Sé Nova (New Cathedral). Its construction started on the 1598 century, but its official inauguration only happened in 1698. It was ruled by the Catholic Society of Jesus (Jesuits) until they weren't expelled from Portugal in 1759 and it became the cathedral of Coimbra in 1772, substituting on that role the older romanesque cathedral built on the 12th century.

On my last post you can find some notes of the city.

Location (latitude, longitude): 40.20942,-8.42467 (I am pretty sure that this is the actual location of the church, although 'Sé Nova' appears elsewhere in Google Maps. Normally I choose giving the location of the subject instead of the pov).
