Photographer's Note
This picture was taken at an old Aquarium (Vasco da Gama), built by the late King Carlos I in 1898 to celebrate the 500 years of the Discovery of the First Sea Way to India. Although very old, it is very interesting because has many rare species from all the World including fishes from African lakes. This big Octopus (probably 2 to 3 kgs - 4 to 6 pounds) caught my attention. I don't know really if he was seeing me but I enjoyed this little chat and wanted to share it with you. It is very common in our coastal waters and appreciated ... by all "gourmets".

What a great capture of a great animal. The structure of his skin is really well captured, even though taking the picture through a window. I love the simpple and soft colours tones. Great job Rui.

Great capture of a difficult shot.
You have done well to eliminate any glare from the glass.

The water is so clear it looks like this octopus is crawling across land on an overcast day! Super sharp details ... I never imagined the skin of an octopus would remind me of an elephant. And I think your image gives the octopus some personality.
