Photographer's Note

The Santa Cruz Monastery was granted the status of National Pantheon in Coimbra because the first two kings of Portugal are buried in the church.
It was the most important monastic house in the early days of the Portuguese monarchy.
The architect Diogo de Boitaca was responsible for the Manueline church and the chapter house with its basket-handled and ribbed ceilings.
I draw your attention to the following point: There is a Resto Bar handily juxtaposed outsisde, to the right of the main entrance; so I had a thought for our Italian friend and bar owner, Luciano.
