Photographer's Note
Early winterlight on the 'Maria Flamninga' biological farm in Tavira, runned by Isabel P., a young and gutsy agri-engineer from the north. The farm epitomizes the rejuvenation of the Sotavento (the Eastern part of the Algarve) agriculture, with its greenhouses and large scale irrigation – a shift from the traditional large scale citrus fruit plantations. Climate change (the Algarve is getting hotter and dryer) obviously was one of the things behind it. Shot from the Tavira apartment.

Hallo Bert,
Op 1 januari bezocht ik dit jaar ook Tavira, maar dan alleen het stadje zelf en niet zozeer de omliggende gebieden. Mooi licht op de verschillende delen van de biologische boerderij met een rijke variatie aan groene tinten.

Hello Bert,
While the note provides interesting information on the local agricultural methods, the photo mainly provides nice patterns and colours. Areas of various green tones at different angles interspersed with the black areas covered with plastic. The warm light and strong contrasts enhance this effect.

Une très bonne idée pour des cultures hâtives que de recouvrir les jeunes pousses pour les mettre à l'abri des gels. Beau point de vue et très jolies couleurs.

Opstap buiten het dorp, maar met en mooie foto, van de vele moestuinen.
Door de hoogte, gaat u foto er totaal anders uitzien.
Met al de ingenomen zaai en plant terreinen.

Hallo Bert, these cultures look carefully maintained. This farm uses eco friendly methods. The plastic and the greenhouse protect the plants against the parasites. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hello Bert,
It is interesting to learn about the changes in agricultural that have been forced upon local growers. I think this will be necessary in lots of places as temperatures and rainfall change.
You have given a pleasing visual to back up your notes, which is not only descriptive but is also very well composed. The stripes of plant rows are divided by paths at right angles, creating thirds, in your composition.
I love the eclectic mix of green hues, accentuating the sense of growth!

Hello Bert,
A well lit and lavish colors picture, with the plants-beds lines in different diagonals made this sight so attractive.
The green house on right "breaking" the pattern and added scale to the composition.
A fine photojob from a higher perspective.
South Portugal climate is excellent winter destination besides the agriculture farming.
