Photographer's Note
A town I have never heard about before and it became photographically one of my favourite places in Portugal. I have shared few photos from Tomar before here:
https://www.trekearth.com/members/mkamionka/photos/Europe/Portugal/South/Santarem/Tomar/
Looking through my archives, I feel as if I was there again. I suppose this is the main reason I love talking photos.
This photo presents the Convent of Christ (Portuguese: Convento de Cristo). From this angle you can see the Romanesque Round Church (12th century), which was later extended into the Manueline nave (15th century). The latter is better visible together with the beautiful Renaissance Cloister of John III (16th century) in my previous upload:

From Wikipedia:
The Convent of the Order of Christ was originally a Templar stronghold built in the 12th century. After the Order of the Knights Templar was dissolved in the 14th century, the Portuguese branch of the order was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, which supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century.

Hi Mariusz, your posts are always very useful, and often show hidden jewels that Portugal is rich in and of which many ignore their existence, a bit like it happens in my country, and from these things we understand the validity of this site. Beautiful architecture, imposing and rich in decorations, another lucky day also for what concerns the light, the result is every very brilliant. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz, I see that this was taken 12 years ago, better weather than your recent trip(?)
The point of view is very good as the features of the buildings are nicely outlined against the brilliant blue sky.
The tree lined drive is a good leading line.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Mariusz,
It's always nice to find a hidden gem that the tourist brochures and guidebooks have largely overlooked. An unusual building displaying features of both a castle and a Church. Good sharpness and colour. Tfs!

Hello mariusz,
First, thanks for your encoureging critique, appreciated.
In Tomar, we saw the castle from street level in the old town, but did not have the time to climb up the hill for a closer view.
From the POV you took this beautiful picture, we get a fantastic sight of the bells and towers, Gothic decorative elements and the garden in front - something that was not well seen from the town level.
Fine outcome on a bright day.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
Wow, this looks like an amazing building complex with lots of photography opportunities. The impressive buildings in the middle with high walls and many small towers are nicely framed by the walls and green trees.

this place is near the land of my ancestors, I ever visited it while going to fátima. nice this classic view of the church. the sky is typical of portugal in that part of year. in my town I only got one like this in the very cold dry days of winter.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
Tomar became also one of my favourite places in Portugal.
I visited this small town on my first trip to Portugal in 1985 and much later in december 2014 I went there again together with a friend who visited it for the first time.
Good choice of point of view with the big bell in front of the blue sky on top of the convento. We also see some of the fantastic opulent Manueline architecture on the side facade.
Not too many visitors that summer day but the person in red clothes is easily noticed.
Nice composition with the greenery at both sides of the lane.
Best regards, Paul

Witaj Mariusz,
Pozdrowienia,
Zbigniew

Hello Mariusz,
A beautiful postcard, indeed. The convent stands like a fortress.
