Country estate solitude, a photo from Lisboa, South

Photographer's Note

These houses belong to a magnificent country estate in the hills above the town of Vila Franca de Xira, northeast of Lisbon. I remember that the beautiful buildings seemed well looked after and yet we saw absolutely no one about. I cannot tell you the name or the precise location
Update: After a further look through my Portuguese slide archive I've found that the estate is the Quinta do Marques De Subserra near Alhandra.
This is scanned from a Fuji Velvia slide and, yes, even after a lot of work there's still a little graininess.

yes, it does appear to be very quiet there. Very peaceful and serene type of atmosphere.
I can almost feel the charming nature this area brings.

molto delizioso questo angolo di strada che trasmette una piacevole sensazione di relax quasi come trovarsi li sul posto.
Le luci e le ombre mi piacciono molto.

Penso però che tu abbia dato troppo sharp e il cielo è diventato come un "mosaic effect".

Hi Mary. A very nice perspective of that street. Loved the detail of the street lamp. Good colors and very good quality for a scan. I was in Vila Franca one of these days but cannot recognize this pictures (only the beautiful train station). Best regards. Paulo

Unfortunately I do not know Portugal, so I'm not going to help on the location of this beautiful place. Perhaps a little too much sharpness, but it's still a pretty scan on these architectures very attractive, this quarter should be very quiet and pleasant place to live. I appreciate the contrasts of light. Well done Mary.

Hello Mary -

This looks like it is almost one of those Old World paintings one finds hanging in a pub or guest house. Very nicely done. There really should not be much in the way of grain or noise when scanning Velvia. The film stock was so good to work with then and now. Well done.

A great composition of this charming street characteristic of many populations of the Peninsula, I like the quiet and pleasant atmosphere of the image. Elegant and beautiful presentation framework of optimizing the image it encloses. Soft colors and very natural and optimal scan job.
