Photographer's Note
Situa-se a cerca de 4,5 km do centro histórico de Sintra e é o mais completo e belo exemplar da arquitectura portuguesa do Romantismo. A sua edificação data de 1839, altura em que o rei consorte D. Fernando II de Saxe Coburgo-Gotha, adquiriu as ruínas do Mosteiro Jerónimo de Nossa Senhora da Pena para as adaptar a um palacete.
A obra foi dirigida pelo Barão de Eschwege, que se inspirou nos palácios da Baviera, para criar um edifício singular que conjuga influências «wagnerianas» de outros castelos no centro da Europa, com os traços mouriscos e os motivos góticos e manuelinos. Um verdadeiro «palácio de princesas» no cimo da serra de Sintra.

It is located about 4.5 km from the historic center of Sintra and is the most complete and beautiful specimen of Portuguese architecture of Romanticism. Its construction date of 1839, when the King Consort Dom Ferdinand of Saxe Coburg-Gotha, bought the ruins of the Hieronymus Monastery of Our Lady of Pena to adapt them to a palace.
The work was directed by Baron Eschwege, who was inspired by the palaces of Bavaria, to create a unique building which combines influences 'Wagnerian' other castles in Central Europe, with Moorish accents and gothic motifs and Manueline. A real 'princesses palace' at the top of the Sintra hills.

It´s excellent composed picture with very good framing and POV showing us this beautiful castle surrounded by trees.Superb,well-saturated colors and good light management.You´ve captured it really perfectly.I like it.

This is a wonderful image. I would have cropped off on the leftquite a bit as I think it would have further improved the composition. Other than that I like evry bit of your image.
