Cape Carvoeiro is located at the end of the peninsula of Peniche, on the Atlantic Ocean, in the municipality of Peniche, Distrito de Leiria, Portugal. It is a place of great natural and landscape value, with a variety of strongly eroded limestone cliffs and fields of LAPIÁS.
It is the westernmost point of Portugal north of Cabo da Roca. The west can meet representatives of the small archipelago Berlengas as part of a nature reserve land and sea.
This site was erected the lighthouse of Cabo Carvoeiro, 25 m high, due to the many shipwrecks in this stretch of coast.
The small Chapel of Our Lady of Remedies, about the cable, is the target of a busy pilgrimage. The interior is lined by valuable tiles of the eighteenth century, the workshop of master Antonio de Oliveira Bernardes.
In neighboring Furninha Cave, were found traces of human occupation dating back to prehistoric times.
