Photographer's Note
We are fascinated with eclipses since immemorable times.
In the past people saw eclipses often as a sign of disgrace, a manifestation of the wrath of gods. The Aztecs even made human sacrifices to supposedly appease that wrath.
I see it more like a humorous detail in God's creation.
Like a friend of mine, college professor on phisics, once told, God made creation this big and this complex so we humans could ammuse ourselves by discovering and explaining it bit by bit :)
I took this picture in my garden with the eclipse in its full state. The color and brightness of the (small) moon is very much like you could see it with the naked eye.
I had to make several attempts in order to catch the moon visible. As you can see by the photo, the clouds covered it almost continuously.
The garden is illuminated by the street light. You can see the halo of a public lamp at your right.
Unlike solar eclipses, the lunar eclipses do not cause absolute darkness in the object. The pale reddish color of the moon is caused by the light coming from the Earth´s atmosphere, reflected by dust. That's why the eclipsed moon is more visible when a great vulcano eruption ocurred.

Hello Francisco
Now this photo is just pure grace...
I remember there being a lunar eclipse some time ago, I just didn't get the chance to see it myself. But you have chosed a great way of showing it here so why complain?
What really catches me here is the down to earth POV and the almost (ok skip almost) flower-ish view.
Now just a question:
What exposure time and other settings did you use?
You mentioned the streetlight, I think it works great in this photo. It really helps to bring out the shapes of the trees and bushes in your garden and almost puts a horror like theme to the photo (Can you say "Little shop pf Horrors"?)
Thank you for sharing

Amazing composition. The street light made also a great contribution.
Very sharp. The DOF very artistic too. I wonder if it could have been possible to increase the DOF to include the flower on focus?

The moon is a bit lost in all that, and it is supposed to be the main subject...
Not my cup of tea, but a nice photo anyway... it definitely has some beauty and is well composed.

Hi Francisco
The like the compo and the colour, you did it well... but you miss the focus, it should be on the foreground not on the background. It could increased the intensity of the shot...
Next time...
Cheers
Filipe
