Photographer's Note
the new harbor and marina - hundreds if not thousands of beton armor units that completed the destruction of Vinha d'Areia beach as well as of the views over the islet for a large section of the waterfront east of the marina.
The destruction begun 2000 with the grotesque construction of an aquapark directly overlooking the beach.
Until that time Vinha d'Areia was one of the top five beaches of the Azores, bordered in the west by beautiful lava flows, now covered by beton armor units.
The water temperature reaches 25 C in summer, 2 (eastern Algarve) to 7 degrees (west coast) warmer than in continental Portugal.

Ola Ilena ,
Will they do the same in the Azores than in MAdeira ?
No place for wild beaches . The paradise of concrete's lovers . Are they any law to avoid this ?
I go to Algarve in a few weeks , and hope to see some protected and unspoilt areas .
I suppose there is still some very beautiful and untouched coastal landscpa in your archipel .
Best regards
