Photographer's Note

The low-lying landscape of Wielkopolska province is varied by numerous hills, lakes and forests with the unique flora and fauna. You are likely to see here old wooden windmills, churches and belfries. The Wielkopolska region is also a place full of many interesting and precious monuments of Polish and foreign cultures, representing different art styles and tendencies. It is here, in the vicinity of Gniezno and Poznan, where in the 10th century Mieszko I founded the state of Polanie, giving rise to the contemporary Poland. In the same time, the first archbishopric ever was created, whose centre became Gniezno with its renowned cathedral – the place of coronation of all the Polish kings. The attractiveness of Wielkopolska speaks for itself and it is namely pointless to persuade anybody to visit the cradle of Poland.
