Auschwitz-Bierkenau - Episode 1

First photo from a seried dedicated to the former concentration camps of Auschwitz-Bierkenau.

"So I am here, kneeling down upon this Golgotha of modern times..." You are received in Auschwitz by this declaration of Pope John Paul II, this is the sentence that welcomes you at former concentration camps of Auschwitz-Bierkenau. Forget the idea you had about war, cruelty or despair... forget everything you think you knew about discrimination, injustice or racism... forget the definition of pain, hurt or sorrow...

The power of Auschwitz-Bierkenau is unbelievable, you feel crushed by such monstruosity. I saw smiles vanish before my eyes, i've saw people cry, people give up the visit. I've made this photos and decided to post them here as my humble contribution for the "don't forget" campaign of Auschwitz museum:

"For ever let this place be a cry of dispair and a warning to humanity. Where the Nazis murdered about one and a half million man, woman and childreen, manly Jews from various countries in Europe"

This is the sentence that finish the visit in Bierkenau, the less known but the deadly of the camps.

I wish i could say something to ease the pain of those who suffered or still do with the horrors of Auschwitz-Bierkenau, but i can't... so... i will just knee myself before this Golgotha of modern times...
