The Tall Ships' Races, Szczecin 2007

".... Ladies and Gentlemen
I am happy to invite you to Szczecin for The Tall Ships’ Races 2007. Balzac once said that among beautiful views of the world, three are unmatched: a dancing woman, a galloping horse and a sailing ship under full sail. When many such ships come to the old town centre of Szczecin, in the vicinity of Waly Chrobrego (Chrobry Embankment), the view will be delightful indeed. We, the residents of a former Hanseatic city with great marine traditions, as well as tourists who visit the city’s charming spots every summer, are looking forward to witnessing such an event. Szczecin is a city of young people, with an outstanding Polish maritime industry. In addition to maritime, the chemical or wood industries, as well as small private firms, represents a variety of modern production or service profiles. The region is open to various business ventures, and this city with its excellent communication routes has a number of advantages. The Tall Ships’ Races final prize giving, together with numerous cultural events organized at the same time provide a good opportunity to get acquainted with the hospitable residents and the city. Standing at the Europe’s crossroads of historical north-south and west-east routes, the city is looking forward to the future. Let’s meet in Szczecin in 2007!
Piotr Krzystek
President of the City of Szczecin.... "
