Photographer's Note

That picture was taken on Slipway Katy - on Elblag River Channel.

System of slipways is the unique in the world monument of technology, designed by a German engineer, George J. Steenke. The Canal, built in the years 1848-1881, is 127,5 km long and connects Elbl±g with Ostróda. The Canal makes it possible for ships and yachts to cover the route where the difference of water levels between the low-located Dru¿no Lake and the upper grounds of I³awski Lake District is almost 100 meters. The route: Elbl±g - Dru¿no Lake (0,3 meters above sea level) - Ca³uny Nowe Slipway - Jelenie (Deer) Slipway - Ole¶nica Slipway - K±ty Slipway - Buczyniec Slipway - Pniewskie Lake (99,5 meters above sea level) - Sambród Lake - Ma³dyty - Ruda Woda (Duckie) Lake - Iliñsk lake (Jelonek) - Mi³om³yn lock - Green (Zielona) lock - Drwêckie Lake - Ostróda.
