Photographer's Note
Yesterday at the airfield near my city was a 1st May festival.
People could fly with puddle jumper or with glider.
On the photo one can see a glider during the start. The rope we can see is connected to winch-luncher mounted on a truck.
The glider on the photo is SZD-9 Bocian (in Polish: Stork)
It is nice and easy to pilot, and made of wood(!!)
The glider has two seats, that means it can be used as training plane. Interesting thing that "Bocian" is the only one glider that is allowed to fly in the night.
Wings are 17,805 m width, the lenght of the glider is 8,21 m. The weight is just 345 kg.
To that type of glider belongs world record of the highest glider flight which is 12560m. That is altitude that some passenger planes are flying at.
Maximum allowable speed of the glider is 200km/h.

Hi Artur,
nice view of this glider. I've added it to my theme "Sailplanes". I guess the original picture is a lot better because I think you've compressed the picture too much (only 20K), resulting in JPG artefacts aso. You can see that clearly on the edges of the wings. On TE, you're allowed 200K for one picture. TFS
