Photographer's Note
hello from krakow's waterfront...enjoy! The Gothic Wawel Castle in Kraków in Poland was built at the behest of Casimir III the Great, who reigned from 1333 to 1370, and consists of a number of structures situated around the central courtyard.
In the 14th century it was rebuilt by Jogaila and Jadwiga of Poland. Their reign saw the addition of the tower called the Hen's Foot (Kurza Stopka) and the Danish Tower.[1] The Jadwiga and Jogaila Chamber, in which the sword Szczerbiec, was used in coronation ceremonies, is exhibited today and is another remnant of this period.[2] Other structures were developed on the hill during that time as well, in order to serve as quarters for the numerous clergy, royal clerks and craftsmen. Defensive walls and towers such as Jordanka, Lubranka, Sandomierska, Tęczyńska, Szlachecka, Złodziejska and Panieńska were erected in the same period.
The Wawel Royal Castle and the Wawel Hill constitute the most historically and culturally important site in Poland. For centuries the residence of the kings of Poland and the symbol of Polish statehood, the Castle is now one of the country’s premier art museums. Established in 1930, the museum encompasses ten curatorial departments responsible for collections of paintings, including an important collection of Italian Renaissance paintings, prints, sculpture, textiles, among them the Sigismund II Augustus tapestry collection, goldsmith’s work, arms and armor, ceramics, Meissen porcelain, and period furniture. The museum’s holdings in oriental art include the largest collection of Ottoman tents in Europe. With seven specialized conservation studios, the museum is also an important center for the conservation of works of art.

Hello Dale,
This is another nice composition. I have walked this way and been equally impressed by the view of the castle and the mighty walls. As for your composition the boy on the bike definitely makes it more lively, and the man sitting on the bench in an otherwise rather sterile area also contributes a bit.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Dale.
I see you back in Poland again. The Wawel Castle looks prominent among all the historic sites of Krakow. Been there two or three times a long time ago, before the collapse of the ex-system. Seems the conservation work has facelifted this fortified place, giving much needed attractive look. TFS !!!

Hello Dale,
nice the view of the Gothic Wawel castle of the town with the high trees to cover a section of it.The placement of the little boy with his bike in the frame is very effective.

Hi Dale
That's a mighty and impressive building and I like very much how you bane as much of the photo to the square as the architecture. The man in the bench looks very relaxed and the kid on the bike brings great energy, a nice snippet of life in the square below the castle
Cheers

Hi Dale
you've got yourself a fine post card type of shot here my friend, and there's nothing to be ashamed about with that...i love post cards.
I remember being here and we got rained on, we had to run for cover in some adjacent building for about 30 min.
We never did get to go inside of the large castle, I was satisfied with just looking at it as we see it here.
pretty grande isn't it, interesting to see so few people around. nice shot
cheers

Hi Dale,
this is a great spot indeed however it seems you had a bit foggy day with the light rather dispersed.
Also including the river works usually quite well from a similar angle. I think I have a picture from a similar spot on TE taken with the river at the blue hour.
Having a biker and thinker on the bench adds some relaxing aspect but there is too much concrete for my taste in the foreground.
Nice reportage though,
M

Hello Dale,
Wawel Castle is a well known sight on TE but your picture from farther away is original and is presented with an attractive foreground.
Especially the guy with his bike at the front is a pretty element.
Best regards, Paul
