Photographer's Note
It rains a lot in Bergen now a days. I had to look through my gallery to find out how Bergen looks with snow, and I found this five year old picture.
The picture was taken at Klosteret in Bergen with a view towards mount Ulriken (643 masl). Klosteret (monastery) is a street named after Munkeliv Monastery erected here around 1110. It was King Øystein Magnusson who took the initiativ to build the monastery. The ruins of the monastery are still hidden under the street level.

Hello Erling,
It is always a pleasure to see photos from you, especially from from Bergen. In my 4-5 visits to the beautiful Hanseatic City, I have never seen it under snow, and only once it was raining. (My visits have always come during the summer months). Your note is much appreciated, a little more knowledge to add to what I already have.
Warm regards and have a good weekend,
Bulent

Hello Erling,
The lovely winter sun has lit up the old buildings very well. The lamp and the tree branches all add to a very enjoyable composition. The snow is a real bonus for the picture.
Kind Regards, Ann

I like a lot this kind of composition , with both a close view of a house and an openning to the landscape . Very well done here , with a superb architecture and a beautiful winter light .

Hello Erling,
Never been in Bergen but I know that it played an important role during WW II. Very nice warm late afternoon light on the fassades of those old wooden houses and perfect layout.
TFS and have a nice weekend

A sunny winter day, and you managed a fine upwards view towards the mountain, Erling.
Side light and shadows painted well on scene, and enhanced the details and outlines of the street houses.
A place with history enfolded below the snow...
Have a nice weekend,
Ike

Hi Erling
Beautiful light! Will it still be around for future generations or are we facing more and more rain? I wonder if it is a sign of climate change - can it be so fast that it becomes noticeable over a few years?
Best wishes

Hello Erling,
It looks like the sunshine has added a golden glow to the major building in the foreground. It looks like your quest for a snow picture did not produce too much snow in this picture, but you have some. I am sure there is far more on the hillside or mountain in the background.
Well done. Regards, Roger

Hello Erling, You had to look deep in your archive to find a photo of Bergen with snow. But it looks marvelous. I have heard that it rains a lot there but i was lucky and had very fine hot weather a few years ago. Beautiful light, it looks like spring.

Hello Erling,
Snow covered Bergen looks even more charming in this golden light! Lovely POV and colours of the houses. How fascinating that the ruins of the monastery are still hidden under ground!
With best wishes,

Hello Erling,
There is lovely winter sunlight on these old houses. It goes nicely with the mountain in the distance, and the bare tree branches on the top of the frame. All of the details are very charming, especially the old-fashioned street lamps.

Hello Erling,
A very warm glow on the houses and even on the snowcapped mountain.
Nice view from under the branches and we get a good idea how close Bergen at the seaside is located to the mountains.
Excellent composition.
Best regards, Paul
