Photographer's Note

The last road...
I want to pay my respects to great citicens of Stavanger with this photo.
Photo was taken one evening while at a small walk with a friend, it is taken at Lagård cemetary just outside Stavanger city center.
I simply felt the somewhat dark ending of this pathway served as reminder of the place where people always have gone, go and still will go.
The simple respect that has been payed when making this pathway is fitting to all who have their last journey here.

I simply can't tell you how well kept and classic this cemetary is...
Trees have been planted in rows, the lawns are well kept, the birds walk freely... truly a very peaceful place on earth.

This place is very old as well.
I'm not sure of the exact age, but the oldest grave we witnessed was dated to the mid 1700. It is still in use today, and as a "tradition" all the "greater" families of Stavanger have their family graves here.
Just to mention one: Alexander Kielland, great writer. If you have interest in the old writings of Norway, then you should consider him.

The place was at that time the most peaceful place on earth, I have more photos from our little walk and perhaps I will post them later.
