Photographer's Note
This estate was once a royal residence. It is located near Apeldoorn. Built in 1684, it remained the summer residence of the Dutch Royal Family for more than 300 years. The incredible gardens were painstakingly reconstructed beginning in 1970 to appear as they were originally designed. After the death of Queen Wilhelmina in 1962 the palace reverted to the State and is now open to the public.
It was a rather overcast day when the photo was taken and is therefore somewhat dark. Taken from one of the structures in the garden, it does provide some of the scale of the structure and the immensity of its gardens.
