Photographer's Note
Are some people not veeeeery lucky? - ;o) - Living surrounded by colours for a couple of days each year, and then in such a cute house!...
Tulip plants are allowed to flower for just 7 to 10 days before mechanical harvesters sever the flower stalks in order to preserve nutrients in the bulb. This seemingly heartless process also encourages plants to produce side bulbs for future crops.
The Dutch are very proud of their flower bulbs. Flower bulbs in the Netherlands are both a product and a passion. Each bulb, they like to say, holds a promise - a promise of a world alive with colour and good cheer, from the last snows of winter through the first frosts of autumn...
* I first thought I had no pictures good enough for the TE book - too much postcards :o) - but I read somewhere ;o) that you can say you've a rather good picture when it has often been added as a favorite... Though this one is not my "own" favourite, I just realized that a lot of people seemed to like it enough to add it to their own favorite list. Thank you everyone!!! :o)))

Alors là, chapeau bas! Absolutely beautiful, full of charm and atmosphere. Strong colors and soft house, great contrast. Lot's of help from mother nature for this one, but you definitely know how to manage landscapes. Bravo!

Just a little rotation to the right (level the house ridge), crop away some of the sky, (right above the tallest tree), and see if you can coax any more sharpening out of the trees.
Almost a great picture. Damaged by the bare trees (?) in front of the house. I'd re-visit this one on a rainy day with a delicate cloning tool.

My thoughts are similar to Bobs - except I'd go visiting with a chain-saw ;-)
The tulips are stunning, but I might be tempted to make a square(ish) crop of just the house and the two big trees around it. I'd also consider bumping the contrast on the house and trees up somewhat too :-)

Great shot Viviane! Like the huge contrast between strong colors of the tulips and misty landscape behind. Composition could be improved probably. Try to crop it just above the tallest tree.

I was planning a trip to Netherlands two weeks ago and decided not to go and stay in Germany.
You are proving I was wrong :-)
I posted a modified version in Workshop.

Agree with everyone that's excellent!
with a view like that almost on premises you should at least spend a 128M CF card or whatever trying to vary the angles. Could you also try with an upper view point and with a wide angle and a closer tulip foreground.

It was the first photo I noticed in TrekEarth by heart. I love colors, villages and foggy landscapes.
I thought about some changes in compositon but my heart is against. The first impression is the right one.
I would like to see such beautiful shots every day. I hope you can give more. :-))

No comments - I love your simple and expressive compositions in line and color. Composition-wise, I like this picture more than your next posting

i think that you have a grait right to live in such beautiful country. or... the true is that good photographer knows to make beautifull things from things that other people hardly see.

I'm intrigued as to why this gets so very much more attention than Coloured Tholen - the two are very similar, au fond. Perhaps it's because the Tholen photo gives equal prominence to the building - here, the subject is more emphatically the flowers (one should say, the field of colour, since individual flowers are not apparent). And of course, this house is pretty, the Tholen house not so much so. But I still can't really tell why the different level of interest.
Just two things to make adverse comment on: first, the tres and house could be sharper (did you use a tripod?); second, the sky looks muky greyish, instead of sparkling blue to suit the flowers (might be able to fix in photoshop, tho I'm not sure how).

Excellent Photo. Love the lines. Next year try shooting down the rows and see how that looks.

Hi Viviane,
Great colors with an amazing contrast with the background and the house, progressively disapearing in greyish tones... Superbe!

Great picture.
I love the colours contrast.
It makes me wonder how it looks the whole field?

I have no words... beautiful. Holland is a fantastic country to shot flowers.
Perhaps it will improve if you crop a little in the top of the picture.

Beautiful image! I wonder how a flight photo of the object would look like. You should try to run NeatImage on the sky and make it more light blue to match the other strong colors.

Certainement un grand classique de votre de votre album, je ne rajouterai rien sur le plan critique : simplement pour donner mon avis sur cette magnifique photo, que je range dans la catégorie "artistique". Bravo.

Most beautiful photo, so shinning and colorful horitzontals.
Full of flowers, seems like a wonderlan place.
Very good composition and good perspective and angle. Very well seen.

What huge garden :-)
Perfect combination of the colors. Is that haze? I´m thinking about a thay that the sky is more blue.
Great Shot!

Big, bright and colourful. What a beautiful scene. I love the rows of tulips in the foreground. You could make a separate picture just out of the field of tulips. For this image, you could try to crop down the sky to just above the tree. Although it's a pretty blue, there is not much action in the sky. It is "Bald".

I'm from Holland, actually, I'm from the 'Bollenveld' area , the bulb field area, but at the moment I'm living in Switserland. When I see this pictute, I know what I'm missing....
A beautiful picture, beautiful colours, the only thing that misses.... The smell of these tulips! But that's not your fault :-)

A very nice picture again, great colours and the flowers are in uniformed rows.
It would seem like a dream living in that house.
Good capture

This is still one of my favourite pics. Love the layered look with the tulips, and the sort of misty buildings and sky makes it look so much more magical. Colours are great.

Wonderful colours of interesting subjects. I like the different kinds of layers. But I would add some extra sharpening and rotate the photo a bit clockwise. I would also crop it somewhere above the trees since the horizon is somewhere in the middle. Increasing the contrast between the trees and the sky is an option.

Happy colours in your shot and great background, the house going into softness...

Holland,... or tulip's land!
Very strong composition but nice.
Are the colors the result of a APS work?
In any case, well done!

very great photograph... the colors are amazing and i'm quite intriquited by the sky...
in spring this is lovely, but the rest of the year this is such a dreary flat land in my opinion...

Nice colours, and great compostion.
Well, I read that some people don't like the colours of the house and the tree, or prefered a picture without trees, but hey, this is how Holland looks on a gray day... I this case it's nice. I like the contrast between the strong colous on the foreground and the vague colours on the background.

A stunning display of colour. It's amazing how a flat place under a featureless sky can be made magical by these flowers. A wonderful picture - well done Viviane.

Brilliant!!! The brilliant, vibrant colors of the the foreground contrast nicely with the softer tones of the upper half of the image. Excellent composition.

Bonjour Viviane.
Je tombe sur cette belle photo à la une de TE. J'aime cette composition et ces belles couleurs des fleurs en opposition avec le ciel. La texture de ces champs de tulipes fait penser à celle du tricot, non ?
Amicalement
