Photographer's Note
A morning scene on the lake in the outskirts of Leiden. This time I wanted to make the image look like one of these old prints which always fascinate me, so I decided to put it in dark sepia. The windmill dates from the 17C.

Beautiful Alexander! A real timeless photograph. The framing is very good, through this foliage and pier. The impressionist water feel and the old mill perfectly place is amazing. Love these heavy skies. Your sepia choice just boosts the overall atmosphere so it was a right decision. Thanks

Hi Alexander!
One more time you share with us a great composition. Very interesting picture both in foreground and background, great light control and b&w choice. I like very much the sky and the leaves on the upper part. Congratulations!

hey Alexander, a great try at sepia tonation, it works particularly well on the sky, and a very pleasant view over a calm scene. good idea to include the branches at the top!- i suppose they cover a fragment of the sky which might have otherwise been too bright.
best regards

Hi Alexander,
To be sure this is not the full cuttle-fish, but the picture is interested and charming among other things thanks to the good arrangement of each plans. Very goods is also the composition of the photo, but to me most they please the light afloat and in clouds which bring to life very much the picture. The very good sharpness and the careful composition is Your visiting-card.
Best regards,

Hallo Alexander,

Hi Alexander,
alhough Ive never been to leiden my father has visited there many times, his company has an office there. And Ive always heard that its a nice town. But have not seen many pictures so coming across this one is a joy. It looks like a small town, very peaceful, clean, beautiful. And its a beautiful photo.

I see that you well succeeded in what you wanted to get out of the picture.
brilliant output from Canon power shot!
i just love the lens construction of its & the capability to pick contrasts very well, yet keeping the whites controlled (especially reflections). Just have a look on the water surface again. i am sure my 350d wont be able to take it as smooth with the normal 18-55mm stock lens which canon provides with it.
very well framed & composed brother!
Cheers
Sid

The sepia does work well here -- gives a nostalgic feel that makes even the modern boats feel older. Excllent composition thanks to the leaves and the fencing that help to frame the image. TFS

Hi Alexander,
Beautiful landscape, you have created a very interesting image, to change to color sepia was good idea, it creates a different atmosphere and something mysterious, the water has a good light and the storm clouds do that this is a good work.

prachtig Leiden. Ook echt een stad waar je je uit kan leven met het maken van foto's, zeer goed gekzen voor de sepia tones hier. Prachtig werk.

You achieved your goal to have an old looking picture very easily and went even beyond. The reflections and the sky are gorgeous. The framing with the tree on top gives a good hold to the picture.

Hi Alexander,
Prettige zondag gewenst,
John

Very fine detailled with all the masts of the boats and the wings of the mill, nicely framed with the ramp and the tree on top and a good textured cloudy sky, well done Alexander.
