The end of the longest day
Today, the 21st of June, is the longest day of the year as well as the start of the summer and here in Holland that summer started beautifully! It was a great and sunny day, that ended with a great sunset!
I cycled this evening to Bloemendaal aan Zee, about 10 kilometers from Haarlem to see this beautiful sunset. The sun disappeared at 22.04h and this picture was taken about 10 minutes earlier. You can see here the North Sea.
This morning at 8.46h the astrological summer began, but the day in Holland started already at 5.19h and ended as said 22.04h, so this day was 16 hours and 45 minutes long.
This picture is by the way also my 100th picture that was taken in The Netherlands. :-)

Excellent and beautiful colors. As cold as it is in California it feels more like fall than the beigining of the summer. I love the graphic like shapes in the sky.
Great framing and it has a calming quality to it.

Nice to have a capture of such a moment, I actually thought the longest day was yesterday (24 hours of sunlight in the arctic circle) but I thought traditionally it was always the 21st.
Not your best hoto technically but there is lots of detail in the sky, I like the wisps of cloud and the rippling sand. Well done!

Hi Lars. Happy summer to you to! I'm afraid my day wasn't quite that long, ending around 8:39 PM. But a beautiful shot nonetheless less with an impressive turnaround time. I also like how the sun is situated in the sky. Good job Lars. Pts tomorrow.

Very beautiful, Lars... a beautiful composition, colours... here in Ottawa, on the other hand, today was overcast, cloudy, then rainy... no sunset... what a way to celebrate the longest day :-( -- I enjoy yours all the more so!

An excellent shot for such a special day. The sky is beautiful as the lines formed by the clouds are playful and lively as if welcoming the summer. I also love the lines in the foreground as it gives nice vibration effect. Overall a very pleasing scenery. Congratulations!!! Have a nice summer.

Mooi hoe de zons ondergang op de langste dag van het jaar, spijtig is de keerzijde dat de dagen nu reeds korten, wel zeer traag. Prachtig hoe u de condens strepen samen met de weinig wolken heeft kunnen registeren, en zeker de weerspiegeling niet vergeten, een pracht van een foto!

Que de mouvements dans cette photo ! Un shot fantastique je trouve avec ce ciel crépusculaire garni de nuages étirés, de trainées de jets, et cet avant-plan ridé dans le reflet sombre des nuages. La luminosité est excellente pour cette prise de vue.

Une très belle composition aux couleurs merveilleuses. J'aime beaucoup l'effet des vaguelettes au premier plan.

Hi Lars. A most fitting scene to mark the official start of summer. This sunset shot has plenty of mood and ambience. I especially like the dark reflections near the shore and the rippled waves. Very well captured with just the right amount of light. Well done.

C'est une belle "architecture" de la nature.
En réalité à l'heure d'été, nous sommes 2 heures en retard sur le soleil; il est donc exactement 20.04h

Mooi Lars, enorm veel tekstuur met deze wolken en de shaduw op het geribd zand, in het midden de warme zonnegloed gradueel uitdeinend in het koele blauw van lucht en reflectie in het water, alles mooi zacht gehouden van kleurtinten en scherpte om het een dromige indruk te geven.

This is a beautiful painting of the sunset of the longest day of last year. The one of this year is almost arriving, as well. I love the skecthes on the sky and the effects of the water motion in foreground. Nice to know that this is your 100th of Netherlands.
16h of sunlight is quite impressive. Not so much in Lisbon, as it is obvious.

Very nice 100th picture, with soft pastel colors. The composition is well balanced between sea and sky and separated by what seems to be a sand bank.

The ripples on the water are assets to the composition. The distance to the horizon is giving depth to the scene which is relaxing. The sunset is giving nice colours to the sky. Have a nice day.
