The Mauritshuis is the Dutch National Museum located in The Hague, in a classicist palace from 1640. The palace was built as the residence of Count John Maurice of Nassau-Siegen.rnIn 1822 a museum of Dutch and Flemish art was opened in the palace, initially there were 200 paintings, today there are over 800 works of art by artists such as Pieter Brueghel, Paulus Potter, Peter Paul Rubens, Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacob van Ruisdael, Johannes Vermeer and Hans Holbein.
