Photographer's Note
I took this picture on last Sunday, at the end of a nice walk along the seaside between Scheveningen and Wassenaar, (Area of The Hague, in Zuid Holland). As the weather was nice (even if ice-cold), and the atmosphere quite clear despite a slight haze on the sea, I have decided to stay until the sunset to see if I could get some photographs of this very special moment.
I must confess that I didn't prepare for this kind of photograph, and I didn't bring any tripod with me, therefore this image has just been captured by keeping the camera in the end and with a short exposure time.
Nevertheless, I must confess that I was positively surprised by he result, by the nice golden colors of the light and by the reflections on the sand,in the foreground.
J'ai pris cette image lors d'une promenade, dimanche dernier, le long de la Mer du Nord, sur la plage entre Schevenngen et Wassenaar (Près de La Haye, Zuid Holland). A la fin de la journee, et comme la météo était clemente (malgrès un froid glacial), j'ai décidé d'attendre un peu pour voir s'il n'y avait pas moyen de tenter le coup du 'coucher de soleil sur la mer'...
Je n'ai pas été déçu par le spectacle, mais j'avoue que je n'étais pas particulièrement préparé à prendre ce type d'image. Je n'avais donc pas de trépieds et j'ai pris le cliché e tenant l'appareil à la main, et avec un temps de pose court.
Toutefois, j'ai été plutôt agréablement surpris du résultat, et par la beauté de la lumière dorée et de ses reflexions sur l'eau et le sable de l'avant-plan.

Un coucher de soleil qui privilégie le sol par rapport au ciel, c'est original mais ici avec ces reflets et la texture du sable, ça fonctionne particulièrement bien. De très bonnes couleurs naturelles pour une photo très agréable!!

Un superbe point virgule est dessiné sur ciel et mer. J'aime bien les effets de lumière et d'ombre sur les micro bancs de sable du premier plan. Très belle prise.

Salut Loic,
Good timing for capturing this beautiful moment before the sun down. I like its closer position to horizon and reflection of course but, especially light plays on small, wet sand dunes a lot. A clever idea using vertical frame, congratulations.

Effectivement le résultat est pas mal du tout. J'aime bien ce premier plan qui ajoute du relief et de la profondeur à l'image. Des instants magiques et combien de fois j'ai regretté de ne pas avoir mon appareil avec moi quand ça se produit aussi en Bretagne... Merci du partage Loïc.

- C'est vrai que tu peux être satisfait du résultat, comme souvent à ces heures-là, la lumière est superbe et la couleur participe aussi à la réussite de l'ensemble, parfois quelques instant plus tôt ou plus tard et la magie a disparu, tu as raison quand même lorsque tu dis qu'un pied aurait peut-être été nécessaire, tu aurais probablement gagné en obtenant un premier plan un peu plus net mais bon, c'est déjà joli comme ça, le cadrage avec une petite part laissé au ciel est bon aussi, en tout cas bravo !

un bon format vertical dans ce cadrage, qui permet d'inclure la belle tissure et les formes du sable sur la plage, qui complète le grand attrait esthétique du coucher de soleil dans la mer, avec ses brillants reflets sur l'eau.

En effet, pour une photo prise sans tripode, elle est exceptionnellement nette! Les couleurs qui passent du doré à l'orange, puis encore à l'or de la mer,et aux ondulations cuivrées du sable, sont du plus bel effet.
Le format en vertical donne une très bonne profondeur de champ.

joli coucher de soleil, j'aime particulièrment le sable au 1er plan. Sinon, mais tu n'y es clairement pour rien, je trouve que ça manque un peu de nuages autour du soleil, ce qui distingue une coucher de soleil "normal" d'un "superbe"! :)

Bonjour Loic -
This is a difficult scene to pull off correctly and you have managed the light very well. I like the warm glow of the light both in the sky and reflected of the damp sand/mud in the FG. In fact, the reflections off the FG and the water make this image. Exposure is spot on with a minimum of OE in and around the sun. Bravo, well done!

There were indeed some marvelous red skies lately. I was too lazy to find a better place than the houses in street, but fortunately you had the opportunity to show us how a proper, classical sunset has to be captures: Sand, the endless sea and a red cloudless sky.

même sans, c'est quand même le pied ! jolies couleurs et textures recoltées qu'un cadrage bien pensé valorise. je ne sais pas si les traces que tu as laissé dans le sable subiront le même sort que celles du dinosaure de Lozère mais peut-être est le rôle tenu désormais par nos inombrables images que nous collectons et qui figent un instant de vie ! maintenant je doute de la pérénité de nos support informatiques, tiendront ils 190 millons d'annéees ??

Exposing for the sky probably gave you a fast enough speed to handhold and it has produced a little gem. The reflections on the wet rippled sand are particularly attractive. Good work
