Photographer's Note
I mentioned earlier that we recently rented a former forest warden's house in the middle of the forest for a week, apart from experiencing total peace and quietness one of the highlights were the birds that surrounded the house and their displays in the early morning looking for food.
The nuthatches were a regular visitor and after observing them for a morning I was able to set the camera to a position where I knew or hoped they would come and to sit very, very still. I don't have a lens longer then 300mm so was pretty close. An enjoyable morning resulted it a dozen pretty decent shots and something so very different to my normal street scenes. I hope your enjoy this.

Hello Elaine,
This little beauty is holding its head perfectly for a portrait. The tuft of moss is a bright detail in this photo of mainly soft and discreet colours. I like the shallow dof which blurred the neutral background perfectly.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Elaine,
what a beautiful shot I remember days here on TE when moderators kept deleting pictures like these though, I hope it no longer applies. Superb sharpness and composition.
Best regards and Happy Easter

Hi Elaine
You show great patience in getting such a lovely shot. To get birds to sit still for any length of time is very difficult. Your image shows its colours perfectly.

Hello Elaine
I like the pose the bird has provided. Always looking to avoid danger. The bokeh in the background almost gives your subject a 3d feel to your image. nice

Goedenavond Elaine,
John

Hi Elaine,
The bird is well placed in the frame. You got a good eye contact with it. The point of view is showing the details of the Nuthatch. Have a nice day.

Hello Elaine,
This is a cracking shot of the nuthatch!
You were very patient and very skilled to get this sharp, close-up without a very long lens.
The bird stands out so well against the blurred b/g. We can see the plumage colours and textures as well as the catchlight in the bird's eye.
He really looks to be posing for you!
I have only seen nuthatches visit our garden twice. They actually came to the feeders but were quickly there and gone!
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Elaine, nuthatches are quite nervous birds, but if you do see them, you are lucky. They are so pretty.
This is a beautiful picture, the bird in a lovely pose.
The totally blurred background is perfect, nothing to distract our attention.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Elaine,
Missed this one. A good profiled shot of the blue and white bird with a dark stripe across its head. Perfect use of selective focus with a neutral oof bg. Tfs!

Hi Elaine,
fantastic wild life capture. Nuthatch is usually very nervous, very shy I have seen it sometimes in the park but never managed to photograph it.
Beautiful work here with such a perfect sharpness of the eye and well blurred background.
Excellent work,
M
