Photographer's Note
A smile of a different kind this time…headlights for eyes, a logo for a nose and a grill for a mouth stretching across like a big grin. I’d be quite satisfied too if I were worth this much and resided in Monte Carlo. :)
This was actually a happy surprise, as I had only thought of placing the high priced car in the same frame as the casino to pull together some of glitz and glamour that abounds in Monaco…nothing more than that concept in terms of composition. It was only later that night when taking a closer look through my pictures that I noticed what appeared to be a smiling car.
Just as I had clicked the shutter, the owner of this fine automobile came up and jokingly said, “Oh, you don’t want to take a picture of this, it’s very dirty.” What he was seeing I don’t know, because it sure looked pristine to me.
I often have people in mind when taking pictures, or even well after the fact, making an association between the subject material and personal likes…and this one brings to mind quite a few. Because of its modern nature, and the fact he’ll be in Italy soon as part of a vacation, Craig (macjake) is the one that first popped into my little brain. What do you think…if he’s going to want a souvenir from his trip, wouldn’t one of these make for an awesome, lifelong reminder of Italy? lol
Thanks for stopping by.

car is strong and dynamic
the red color draws our eyes towards

Hi Jason,
the close up view of the red car really looks like a big smile with the huge eyes to are so inviting and unique. The building on the foreground makes the image even more effective.

Hi Jason, Nice note. The car looks really smiling. And my granddaughter would like this photo, reminding her favourite movies "Cars". In your lenses it looks like taken from the cartoon.
It also happens to me while shooting that I have someone in mind, and I am sure that Craig will love it. When you plan to have such a long trip to Russia, maybe you will make a small one from there to Warsaw?
Warm regrads MAlgo

Hello Jason,
What a nice contrast between the f/g and the b/g. Bright red vs pastel colors, a modern car against a historic building. Well seen and rendered.

Hello Jason,
Well, if you can't find a person for the foreground a bright red car will do just as well. Especially if it gives you such a friendly (but kinda stupid) grin. And yes, this makes me think of Craig. (Not the grin, the composition.) :-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hi JayCee
a shot that sums up MC to a tee! Mind you I would just love to have a ride in this symbol of opulent excess. As for it being dirty…………….gulp! - you should see mine, not that it is as big, red and shiny as this one. (Steady!). Nicely constructed image just a shame the plate was not J007 eh? Super shot either way, with excellent DOF and one that is a fitting tribute to testosterone.

Bonjour Jason,
C'est vrai que cette Ferrari semble sourire devant ta caméra.Elle se sait très belle et aussi très propre, gardant le trottoir tandis que son maître perd de l'argent au casino. Mais cela ne doit pas être très grave pour lui.
Amicalement

With the price paide for this ferrari, the car must smile while being looked at, Jason, yet it conveys beautifully the luxurious look it has.
Stunning red, and the Casino on far side makes this perfect Monaco scene.
Cheers,
Ike

Hello Jason,
something just really know how to pose for a camer with a big smile, even if the smile looks a bit mechanical but it is still a smile. Excellent shot and the red really make a statement, the car fits the location of glitz and glam and the backdrop of the casino make the whole composition complete. Like a spread of adv we see in mags. Excellent qual shot.

Hi, Jason!
This photo really makes me smile. It looks like a funny cartoon's hero! I'd like to say, this is a part of glamour life with make up! ;) Well done!
I have thought you have used a fish-eye lens. It was my first idea when I looked this thumbnail.
Greetings from Ural!

Hello Jason,
I often see faces in inanimate objects and each seems to have its own personality. This certainly enters that category! What a cheeky, mischievous, playful face! Perhaps it has something to do with your viewpoint/composition, where the eyes are a little bulging, like those of a cartoon character! Did the owner match the car?
A mischievous car, waiting outside a palatial, casino does raise eyebrows! It's a delightful combination.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hi Jason,
I have to admit, I would never have expected a ferarri to look this happy, I'd expect a much more serious face, but the angle you chose here is excellent, and the car has one of those smiles that would make anybody else smile with it! A classic composition with the building in the background to show the setting well.
I never thought of a car like this as Cute, but there you go! Nicely done.
Cheers

I was a Paris years ago going through Place Vendome, looking at the Ritz I saw this car arriving, a blond man got out and throw the keys at a porter before entering
I approach the hotel and asked who he was
Albert of Monaco was the answer..opppps
My idea?
The owner was joking, the car is sparkling
Take care, sunbath a bit
Cheers with Coke

Hi Jason,
haha,I can only agree with Ike´s opinion-for that price it should really look like it would smile...and maybe it could have microwave oven or dishwasher:)I think for that price we could require a lot:)
But seriously-the shot is great!I like your perspective,so close to the car and the nice juxtaposition of it with the stylish architecture behind.
I think I still need to do some overtimes to buy me something like this ,not in Matchbox size:)
Have a nice weekend my friend

Hello Jason,
it's not only the sleek and dynamic design, the bright red colour and the smile, it's also the graceful tilt to the left and her candid eyes that make this portrait attractive and captivating. There's great depth and a splendid building in the background, the mild tones of the context make her stand out in an irresistible way. The textures are superb too. It's interesting that the first letter of your name is on the plate:) Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

Jason, nicely framed and conceived. And what a car! It is amusing how cars have either smiling or aggressively frowning faces; take a look the next time you are out and about. Great DOF and detail. Thanks.

Hi Jason,
The same as me, you also like contrasting photographs. This perfect example, a combination of modern luxury car with older but also luxury building. A typical shot from extravagant and rich Monte Carlo.
Excellent light and nice colors.
Very well done.

Hello Jason,
The wide angle lens in combination with the
close up view creates this nice effect and
creates a nice depth. The vertical postition
emphasize extra the car and the depth in the
picture. Composition and light management
are great.

Hey Jason
great to be back on TE!
so many photos to share, its hard to pick and choose which one to start with - thats why i've decided just to start from the beginning of the trip and go from country to country after that...
I remember you mentioning about a car photo :)
here it is.
and hey, if I looked half as good as this car does i'd have a permanent smile on my face too!
Oh to have a Ferrari...sigh...its a good thing though that its only a dream...the cost of owning and maintaining such a car is sky high.
Did you know that some Ferrari's cost $5000 just for an oil change? yikes!
its b/c of the positioning of the engine, the entire engine has to be taken OUT just to do an oil change...but then again if you can afford such a car whats $5K two or three times a year right???
awesome car, awesome photo and awesome place, all too rich for my blood!
see you around
cheers buddy

Gidday dear ADB
Wow what a cutie, he really does look like he's smiling and posing for you. Maybe you should buy one, it's quite obvious you'd go well together. Love the POV, the exaggerated distortion from the wide angle lens and the great perspective. Great work, thanks for sharing.
Have a great day
Lisa
