Photographer's Note
"Aal Brëck" and "Spuerkees"-building, Luxembourg.
I decided to continue my postings of luxembourg-city by night, hope you like it :-)
In the forground you see the Grand-duke Adolphe bridge, commonly called "Aal Breck" (old bridge). When the bridge was built by architect Paul Sejourné, it had the world's biggest arch with 84,65 m. The bridge was important for the developpment of the city, as it links the newer part and the rail-station to the older part.
At the same period was built the building at the background, situated Place de Metz, Luxembourg. It is not a castle, as I recently read on TE. The building was created by architect Jean-Pierre Koenig, as headquater for the "Banque et Caisse d'épargne de l'État" commonly called "Spuerkees". When the Spuerkees was founded in 1856, it was Luxembourgs first bank.
