Contnuing my description of the lovely little village Poffabbro, I found some more infos in English to attach here in the Regione website:

The area of right side of Tagliamento river has an old formed patrimony of houses, which is representative of a rural architecture. There are three building kinds of houses that are strictly linked with morphology, materials and climate: "CASE A LOGGIA" (houses with loggias), "CASE A BALLATOIO" (houses with balconies), "CASE A VOLUME CHIUSO" (houses without balconies and loggias). The first ones characterized the mountain and plain areas; the second ones characterized the mountain and hilly areas; the last ones, which have an internal stair, are characteristic of the high mountain areas. The building material most frequently used was the stone (limestone and sandstone) taken in the nearly quarries and streams (Torrente Cellina, Torrente Colvera, Torrente Meduna). The different origin of the stone gives different colours to the houses.
