Photographer's Note
Another of a series of shots taken in St. Peter's, Rome during the vigil for the dying Pope... sometimes amongst the throngs of people a small space appeared and a tabloid such as this revealed itself, almost as though it shouldn't have been there but was bursting to get out.
The complete series of these shots can be seen at my website www.daviddeveson.com

It feels like one could slice the atmosphere here with a knife - a very powerful and telling image in one sense if you see the old woman as begging and quite different if you see the whole related to the dying Pope - an interesting image that has an emotional complexity that belies it's simplicity. Nicely framed - good work.
best wishes Kev

Hi David, an image with great impact. Well done to have chosen B&W, it made the shot really.

What a scene!!
I noticed only later that the standing pretty smart lady is a nan!
Good way of capturing the right moment.
Hi quality picture.
