According to the Liber Pontificalis the Fire of Village, that it gives the name to the atmosphere, start in year 847 in the before quarter the basilica of S. Peter: Lion IV (pontefice from the 847 to the 855), giving the solemn blessing from the Loggia of the Blessings, extinguished the fire miraculously, saving therefore the church and the people.
