Photographer's Note

By leaving Rome by the "road of the sun" one reaches Orvieto located on high volcanic tufa cliffs overlooking the Tiber. The idyllic landscapes of this area were often painted by the renaissance artists in frescoes or the paintings considered as masterpieces today.
This medieval city is rather strange with its lanes and narrow streets framed by houses built with blocks of tuff. It is attractive also by all the products of craftsman such as ceramics, the articles of wrought iron ware and antiques which one discovers in the small shops.
