Campello CastlernIt is said to be founded, towards the middle of the century. X, from Rovero di Champeause, from which the family of the Counts of Campello would have derived, which had the lordship. The noble feudal lord would have come to Italy from Reims, following Guido, Duke of Spoleto, obtaining the construction of a fortress on a hill; Emperor Lamberto confirmed the investiture in about 921, including eight villas (villages) in the fiefdom, called "Gualdi Ranieri". A first document of the castle and its lords dates back to 1226: at the time of Frederick II they were active supporters of the Empire against the Church, so much so that they were harshly condemned by Pope Honorius III, who called them "children of the devil".
